Meryienda is a small, artisan, gluten free bake shop originally based in New York City. We recently ventured west and to bring our delicious products to California, in addition to growing our business across the US! Meryienda specializes in cookies, bars, brownies and Filipino inspired desserts. In most of the Philippines, Meryienda is snack. Doesn’t everyone love snack time!?!
Meryienda’s products are handcrafted and baked fresh, from scratch, in small batches to ensure consistency and the highest quality. Meryienda is committed to using all-natural ingredients, organic and locally sourced when possible to support the community, and we do not use preservatives or anything artificial. All of our products are made with naturally and certified gluten free ingredients.
After Elvira learned she was gluten intolerant and had celiac disease over ten years ago; she had to revamp her lifestyle. Unsatisfied with what she could find in the market, Elvira set out on a journey to make her own yummy baked goods that could provide nutritional benefits in addition to satisfying her sweet tooth.
After experimenting for a few years with both traditional American favorites, like chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, and snickerdoodle and Filipino flavors from her childhood like Food for the Gods (date & walnut bars), cassava, and ube, we participated in a Chelsea neighborhood local market which was a success! Shortly following this event, we received online orders, began selling our baked goods in coffee shops, a gluten free store and continued selling at festivals & events throughout New York City. At the same time, Meryienda developed a loyal following at local events.
Since moving to California, Meryienda has participated in local markets and events like Unique USA Markets, Renegade Craft Fairs, and the SF Etsy Holiday Emporium. We can also be found at Rainbow Grocery, The Epicurean Trader, and Diablo Foods.
